Fleece Skirting Demo

Ever think you might want to exhibit a fleece in a show and competition, but didn’t know how to get your entry ready?  Want more info on evaluating, choosing, and handling raw fleeces.  This is for you!

In the interest of increasing entries in future fleece competitions, Dr. Fred Knowlton (Notlwonk Springs) is conducting a brief hands-on workshop and demonstration teaching the basics of choosing fleeces for show, evaluating fleeces for defects, properly skirting fleeces, and preparing them for show.  The mini-workshop and demo will start at 12:15 Saturday and run for about an hour.  Location may be outside, if weather permits or may be co-located with the Fleece Show.  Ask at the Registration desk for the location, but don’t miss it, if you are a fiber animal producer.

Snake River Fiber Art Fair Raw Fleece Show

The Snake River Fiber Art Fair Committee is happy to announce that a fleece competition will be held during the 2011 fair.  The information and rules for this competition are listed below.  Fleece entry and judging will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2011.  Private treaty sales of entered fleeces are perfectly acceptable after judging is completed.  Fleeces that are sold will be released immediately.  Exhibitors, NOT the Snake River Fiber Art Fair, are responsible for exhibited fleeces.
