The Great Basin Fiber Arts Fair is being held October 4 & 5 at Historic Wheeler Farm at 6351 South 900 East in Salt Lake City. Very easy access is made from I-215. Overnight camping is available right there.  It truly is a fun event.

 The Trailing of the Sheep begins October 10 - gallery openings and restaurants are serving lamb,

There is a COOKING WITH LAMB Class at CK's Real Food Restaurant, Corner of Pine and Main in Hailey, 1 - 2:30pm and                   a FREE class on Sheepherder Bread Making on Main Street from 3 to 5 p.m. in Ketchum.

at next Stage Theatre, 120 S. Main Street, Ketchum, 7:00pm, Doors open at 6:00pm.
Sheep Tales Gathering: Songs and Stories of Sheep Herding "Remembering when..."
Join Western Folklife Center's Hal Cannon,our guest host, for an evening of music, poetry, and storytelling featuring Idaho singer/songwriter Rosalie Sorrels, Navajo storyteller and weaver Roy Kady, Irish musician and storyteller Mick Lucey, and Wyoming poet and writer Sharon O’Toole.  Tickets: $20 for Friday or Saturday nights individually, or $35 in advance for both Friday and Saturday nights.

Also: The Peruvian Retablos of Jeronimo Lozano, Salt Lake City, Utah
Retablos represent a very old form of three-dimensional art that combines sculpture and painting to create a mythical or historical scene. Commonly created in earlier centuries for Catholic Churches to illustrate scenes from the Bible, retablos are used today, especially in South America, to depict historical events and scenes from local culture. Peruvian immigrant Jeronimo Lozano creates his retablos by individually sculpting each figure from potato flour to feature religious themes or to illustrate stories of his heritage and his life in Utah.

St. Charles Catholic Church's famous Basque Lamb Dinner
Lamb Tastings and Talk, 12 - 3pm
Four top chefs will prepare and discuss recipes for selected lamb dishes from lamb ribs, legs and ground meat to Dutch oven stews.
Heather Rogers will share her gourmet cooking skills working with the family of the Siddoway Sheep Company.

Trailing of the Sheep Dog Trials: New for 2008!
Quigley Canyon Field, Access off Fox Acres Drive, Hailey, Dawn to Dusk Saturday and Sunday.
The Trailing of the Sheep Dog Trial, organized by the International Dog Handlers and Stock Dog Association, is a must-see for animal enthusiasts. The two-day trial is sanctioned by the U.S. Border Collie Handlers Association and will offer $3,000 in prize money.

 On Sunday, the Parade in Ketchum starts at noon and features all of these dancers and groups of musicians, the sheep wagons and then the SHEEP.

 It is absolutely delightful!  The fall colors are usually making the Valley beautiful.
